Well all I can say is our reasons for moving.

We both have a lovely life here in the UK, live in a stunning part of the country, have a higher than average standard of living, and have a good circles of very close friends, but we both want more than here can offer us, so if that means a better quality of life then maybe it does but I think its more about fulfilling your destiny and potential, and that can be done anywhere.

In the mean time Spain is for us.

You don't want much out of life do you?!

Seriously though,I do agree with you that its not so much where you are as who you are.I did consider moving abroad but then considered my motives for wanting to.I know that I would be happier in January and February in Spain than in England, but for the rest of the year would my life be so different?
I live in a lively, interesting market town with lots to do and I am lucky that my children are in good local schools. If I moved to a similar area in Spain and did a similar job (its fairly relaxed)would my life be better?I don't feel it would be.Experiencing a different culture? I am surrounded by different cultures here (although some British people seem to dislike that).
Its not for me but I think the sun, more relaxed lifestyle and family friendly culture of Spain will benefit many people who don't have those things.:)

Your right, I don't want much out of life, and my point was that what we have here is perfect for some, but I am not a materialistic person, so living around here does not sit well with me.

So do you live/ have you lived in Spain?

I have visited Spain a few times but never lived there.I travelled a lot years ago and the longest I spent anywhere was 13 months in India/Nepal - that's longer than some people live in a country but since I was visiting different araes it doesn't really count as living there. There are certainly towns in Spain(and most countries I have been-including throughout the UK)where I know I could quite easily live.I have lived in crap towns in the UK,but consider myself extremely lucky in living in a great one.:)
