Default Barking dogs

Hola all,

I've heard that there is a number that can be called to report constant barking dogs....attached to the local police in someway I think....

Any ideas?

I work from home and have put up with it for months, but it is getting silly now, I don't want to speak to the owners as have heard that the last person to do so got their tyres slashed, it could have been a coincidence but I would prefer not to risk it and just to call anonymously instead...

There is a device you can get, looks like a small lodhailer, battery powered and fires a beam of ultrasonics.

Dogs don't like it at all, so every time the damn thing barks, shoot it.

It worked with ours.

Since I've lived in Spain (3 years) we've lived in four different houses and areas, ranging from urbanizacions to campo and there are always dogs barking day and night! In fact I actually wake up if they stop now! It seems to be the Spanish way???!

I had a problem with my neighbours dog barking in the early hours of the morning.

So when the dog woke me I got up and went and rang their doorbell, to be verbally abused.

It took 2 or 3 attempts, now I sleep all night.

It is a difficult one....

We live in a horseshoe urb, with 13 houses, between us we have 7 dogs, I've one of them..... none of us let our dogs back.... they bark we tell them off - they stop - simples!

These are Spanish who don't seem to care, there is someone in their house 99% of the time, so why do they let it bark????

:curse:

Spain and barking dogs go together like Spain and the sun. I control my two as best I can, and they’re indoors overnight, but leave the big one in the garden when we’re out shopping or whatever, and he barks when he thinks that there are burglars around, which is frequently. The dogs on one side and all around do the same – my one is barking outside now and if he persists I’ll need to check why he’s barking.

The houses around here without dogs get burgled at an alarming rate. The burglars can now switch off the alarms with their mobile phones.

There are a couple of dogs barking in our road at the moment too. One of them sounds quite small and he barks most of the time, its one of those high pitched barks - I seem to switch of to it! When the bigger dogs bark then the whole neighbourhood seem to join in. My dogs very rarely join in, unless the ones opposite start up.

All part of the Spanish culture, I'm afraid.

The more noise the better, from dogs barking, kids screaming, everyone shouting together in bars/restaurants, to fireworks all year round to celebrate everything from the cat having kittens to the local team scoring a goal.

Peace and quiet just aint on their menu.

They just seem to love it all.

What's it called and where can I get one?

The alternative device that fires pieces of lead tends to be a much more permanent solution.

Failing that, the smaller air-gun version is very popular, and in widespread use both by Spanish and Expats, usually resulting in either the dog or the owner getting the message fairly quickly.

Google and you'll find several suppliers and models.

To work effectively usually the dog has to be no more than 50 feet way. But they don't always work. We have one of those handheld scarers based on frequency and a strobe. Makes no difference to the campo dogs. You just have to pick up stones and throw them at them.

Stones and poison are, of course, alternatives.

My neighbour goes around chucking bloody great fireworks/bangers at them.
Scares the shit out of me, but the dogs seem to become immune after a while.

Blimey the options are endless

Am soooooo tempted to chuck a special bit of meat over the fence, been saying that to my OH for 2 years now, but it is this last couple of months that has got worse!

Can't use that device as wouldn't be fair on the 7 good dogs in our complex!
