Avoid the British when on holiday

Do a simple calculation. £80 billion divided by 65 million divided by 12 months. That comes to roughly £100 per month per inhabitant on average for comprehensive healthcare. You may not always get everything you want, but you certainly get what you need. And..... For "free". No co-pay, no prescription costs, no requirement to pay supplemental insurance.
And what other systems beat that efficiency so 'handsomely'??

Compare that with the USA where a family often pays around $15,000 a year in insurance and even that probably won't cover everything.

£100 per month per person is £1200/yr or approx $18,000
So a family with 2 kids would cost $72,000/yr.

That the way "she" reacts , I find it extremely amusing that "EMR" is based in Portugal for 20 weeks a year & is a expert on everything Portuguese or thinks she is ! & now is passing her self off as a expert on Spain.
This will be my 1st & last post on Spain, good luck posters.

My brother - in -law is currently here in Spain with us on holiday. He started his career as a mental health nurse then a General Nurse at QE in Birmingham and then to University and finally as a Senior Director of the NHS. So early doors very much hands on and then with exposure and experience to other things.

Costs recovered from reciprocal health arrangements with other countries, charges made to individuals plus insurance etc
In the scheme of things it is off course peanuts and since day 1 the NHS was not intended to be a profit making organisation but a service for those in need.

How does one arrive at a profit whereby in the NHS true costs are not quantifiable. This is not a business.
