Right, all of the other forums have it, and since there hasn't been a thread about Spain so far invaded by negativity I though it best to keep that negativity to one thread, that way if people want to know some of the truths about real life in Spain they only have to look in here.

The trouble is that, for instance, someone will come up with "the Spanish hate English" and such like. Now ... that may be possibly true in a particular town or in a particular area, I don't know, but its a complete generality and in other areas it couldn't be further from the truth and imho gives an untrue reflection of Spain as a country.

You know what happened last time we had a thread like this about the UK ........ will there be another nuclear fallout? :)

My wife is Spanish, well Basque actually from Amurrio in Alava, but thats splitting hairs.

Do you know what Lee, you mention that your wife is a Basque in almost every post you make, now I'm sure you do it because you are very proud of her, although you cant have much respect for her, but I suspect you do it to assure us all that you are the leading light in all things Spanish.....................now lets move on and its a given, your wife is a Basque.


Oh and my long term GF in Spain was also a Basque, and never again!

Heres one thing that will def wind me up in Spain (when eventually get there),
BEUROCRACY!!!!
Example registering as self employed with taxman in the UK,50% of an a4 page,other half only filled in if working with a partner!!,rest of form for office use!Spain 12 pages (so Im told) just for tax and IVA:blink::blink::blink:(This is after apllyong for your Tax license!!)

The easiest way to fill it out is to employ your guy you pay to do all your tax and legal stuff he`s called GOD otherwise know in Spain as your Asesoria.

I was only paying him 25.00 euros a month to sort all kinda boring crap.
