I don't see anyone knocking successful Brits. All the other Olympians and paralympians seem to be well respected. It's only Murray who gets knocked. Can you see why that might be?

No its not actually, and its often been the same in the past. They dont fit peoples requirement for being an acceptable sports person ... too boring, not happy enough, too arrogant ..... Hot News! People arent always happy smiley people, and that goes for Sportsmen and women too

I don't think Hamilton is quite such a pain in the arse as Murray, but there is no doubt he is a touch moody when things go wrong.

Having said that, many F1 drivers are the same when their race goes pear shaped.

Not taking anything away from Murray, but the pressures,dangers and degree of concentration FI drivers handle during a race is on a totally different level to anything happening on a tennis court, so when in a split second through no fault of their own, certain success turns into desperate failure their reactions are quite understandable

perhaps it is the difficulty of saying his name but Spanish commentators are full of Seb, Kimi, Fernando et al but always Hamilton.

I think if I was keyed up mentally and phyically for a 2 hour race and some numpty forced me off I wouldnt be best pleased.
there were a number of instances a couple of years ago when someone appeared to be trying to teach him a lesson in humility. High speed incidents can be lethal, but there seemed alot of bumps. The use of Torro Rosso to impede him being one of them

I think Murray has had enough pressure from himself and additional from media demanding to know why he hadnt met their expectations would be enough to make me more than frown. Henman had the same, but was more easy going, liked by the crowd - until he failed yet again. which is probably why he failed - too easy going.

I'm glad he won at the Olympics and US Open. I must admit I wish he had a more endearing personality and could bring himself to forget the battle of Culloden, but he is an excellent tennis player and we all (Brits, not just Scots), should be proud of him.

Maybe he should instead remember the Battle of Prestonpans

Thoroughly agree, it was a superb match to watch, he is not the only successful sportsman to miss out on personality, Nick Faldo was a prime example, everyone cringed when he had to speak but a great player, Woosnum and Montgomerie could both rise to the non personality on occasions, but all great sportsman. So please lets stop harping on about a successful tennis player - we have waited long enough for one

It is so sad that those living in England come on a Spanish forum to show their anti Scot prejudice. Without "their" help "we" would have had a very poor tally at the olympics.

That has to be the most ridiculous post to date after the never ending praise heaped on the successful Scottish athletes from both sides of the border.

Likewise for many other Scottish sportsmen over the years, incl many top notch footballers, though sadly none at present.
Some of them even had entertaining personalities to boot and most ppl looked forward with great anticipation to their TV interviews, one or two of them are still involved as coaches and occasionally provide us all with a good laugh or three.

By the way,it may have escaped your notice, but one single English county had a medal haul that at least matched the whole of Scotland.
