You can see why everyone (including it seems many Spanish) are confused.
a) The rule is different from everywhere else
b) It's stupid
c) It's contradicted in much literature
The terminology is difficult enough WRT roundabouts anyway. e.g., what exactly do you mean by 'outside lane' in your post?

But this thread is about driving in Spain, in particular Andalusia, and why it´s so bad/difficult/indifferent/confusing and even down right dangerous!
As Jim is saying, the Spanish "logic" for tackling roundabouts is quite frankly, illogical. It not only causes traffic flow problems, it causes accidents, road rage and all other unnecessary incidents, but not just for those dim witted Brit´s, for the Spanish too!

It was reported recently that a car had been stopped travelling the wrong way on a roundabout a couple of months ago in Malaga!
Now it makes perfect sense! It was you!!!
Besides, I´m not sure it would have added any more confusion to any other time of day, on the a busy roundabout in Spain

Ive seen Spanish do it here, must be pissed or retarded, I have before (on holiday) a few times drove down the wrong way in a one way street (without the nav) I put that down too poor lighting and signage though. Soon worked it out.

here in Granada all day, every day, we get pedal and motor cyclists going the wrong way cos they are too lazy to go all the way round. Both also ignore one way streets, charge pedestrians out of the way on footpaths, immediately change direction/lane without any care for themselves or others
none of it is reported, and it is almost 2 years since I saw a motorcyclist pulled by the police - by 3 cars and they had their guns out and seemed to know him exceedingly well.

Yup - I realised that
But the terminology is confusing. What is the outside lane exactly?
On a roundabout I guess it's the nearside lane (near the kerb) whereas on a straight road it is the fast lane so as you drive from a road to a roundabout you change from the inside lane to the outside lane and then back again.
Except in America where the outside lane is the slow lane.
Better to stick with nearside and offside maybe?

Which begs the question...why have an inside lane?

This guy had spent a life time rebuilding the faces of crashed bikers!
