Hi all

A general question, possibly linked to this thread.
I am considering bringing my soft top audi down to CE from Ireland. I was wondering what is the longest period of time I could have it in CE without having to go through the whole process of re-registration. I had thought of drivin down over the spring period and fly home, then revisit in july and August 2014 and possibly drive it home in late 2014.
A plan or a bad plan ?

Regards
Martin

Driving around in the heat of July and August with the sun beating down on your head is a very bad plan. You don't see many Spanish in convertables. Regards Bryony

Hi

In theory (in law) your car can only be out of its country of registration for 6 months. There are cars on the Costa Del Sol that have been out of their country for ten years or more!

So still legal in August but illegal 6 months after March / April - KEEP THE FERRY TICKET as proof - but in all honesty - you probably won´t have a problem

Sounds fantastic! go for it! Find somewhere to store it whilst off the road. Out of the sun. We do that drive in our motorhome and love it. France is an amazing country to drive through. We vary our route, say no to tolls on Tom Tom and see where it takes us. Even better in a soft top. When you get to Ayamonte roof down breeze blowing as you drive!!! don't forget to aply the factor 50!!
Hubby just reminded me of the 'Ballad of Lucy Jordan' Marianne Faithfull.
Anyone able to put a utube link on here!!

I agree with Bryony that you can't drive around in a convertible in the middle of the summer. We hired one in the second week in July this year and hardly put the top down. It was lovely early morning and early evening but otherwise it was much too hot. It was still fun though.
