Re: 3 ways coffee can save your life
Real conversations go off topic as well.... imagine we were all in a bar (or a cafe, to stay strictly on thread) talking about coffee, and it came up in conversation that I was living somewhere else, and jackytoo, DD & I started to chat about wine & pisco, would we be be obliged to move to another table to avoid interrupting the coffee-chat - even if the conversation there had dried up?
Next thing you'll be telling me I shouldn't be posting here if I'm not in Spain any more.

In the last few days admist the celebrations I have had a few cafe solos / espressos, in one bar ( it was too busy to ask) they followed it up with a free shot of some type of honey drink. What is this ?
Previous to my earlier posts after this weekend I quite like the cafe solo / espresso if you drink it boiling hot and fast.

I had something different yesterday, a cafe goloso con caramelo which was enjoyable as a change of drink because I am not much of a coffee drinker and get fed up with having coke or water when out and about.

A Strong liqueur made from sap extracted from a type of palm tree
.... and NOT as I thought when I first tried to make it many moons ago, a mixture of Rum and Honey.
Popular in the Canaries where the original 40% alcohol is readily available.
Only ever come across a cheap 30% copy here on the peninsula, but I imagine the original will be available somewhere.

You've never lived till you've tried one of these, even better still is Barraquito Especial.
Once again I've never come across it on the Peninsula, only the W.Canaries, also of S.American origin I believe.
Knocks the best coffee you're ever likely to find in mainland Spain into a cocked hat !
