Snow in Atlantic Canada
#46
This is my third winter in Moncton. The previous two winters I always managed to push enough snow to make enough room for a car on the driveway (even though I don't drive) and a pathway from the garage so I could get my bike out.
This winter that's been impossible. I managed to maintain a pathway from the garage but I could only clear a walkway through to the road....until the latest fall when even that was completely beyond anything I could do. There was too much to lift and it was to high to lift onto the snow banks.
Many complain about plowing delays. They may have a point, but for my street I'd like to see less. I don't understand the need to "plow the full width" for a street wide enough for three lanes but that seldom has more than two cars driving on the entire street at any one time.
It's soul destroying to use up all that energy clearing snow and the ridge across the driveway, see drivers happily driving with absolutely no problem at all and with plenty of room - and then see the plows come yet again shoving it all into the gap I've tried so hard to maintain.
Yesterday my ridge was about 6 foot from me to the road (it was hard to judge) and about 4 foot deep. I'd managed to shovel out a gap over 3 foot wide and most of the depth and took a break.
The plows came and it was all filled in and 5 foot deep. The road was more than adequate for two lanes of non-existent traffic before that.:curse:
