Snow in Atlantic Canada

Windsor is in the banana belt. My SIL and BIL and family came over New Year's from Brantford to Ottawa and they had never seen so much snow and such high snow banks.

Is this typical of Fredericton in winter or do you feel the amount of snow this year is an exception to the rule.
I am so looking forward to being out there next winter - snowstorms an' all

This is a thread I can't let pass by without posting a pic or two.....
Friday was pretty much a blizzard all day. Saturday dawned bright, sunny but windy. The view from the bedroom was of snow sculpted by the wind.......

So I sent the Mrs out with the snowblower!

(Actually I do most of it.)
Four storms in a week has left snow levels nearer to those we would expect in February not December. Unless a sizable thaw sets in over the next month we are going to have quite a depth Feb/March when it really gets snowy here.
We're in the midst of storm number 4 now. Here's the view live from downtown St Johns.... http://www.stjohns.ca/access/trafficcams/gower.jsp

Don't go above 30" cut and get as much Hp for as smaller cut as you can. e.g. 11hp/30" good, 11 hp/42" monster bad! Think about how heavy the thing is for manouevering around - not just for you but other family members. Some have powered steering, mine has a differential lock to make turning easier. Good makes - Ariens, Sears, Husqvarna, Toro. The MTD brands (Yardman, Yardworks, White, MTD) as sold at Kent or Crappy Tire, not so good. Mine is an Ariens 11hp/28" cut model & has managed 1.4 Newfoundland winters so far with aplomb!

Wow that's certainly a lot of snow you have there in NB. I wonder how it's going in PEI.
We have a fair bit of snow ourselves and have been enjoying ourselves at the Dignans cottage. I hadn't been sledging (or sledding as its known in Canada) for years. Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

We brought over our snowboogies from the UK which are light as a feather. Still wouldn't mind a drag lift though

The snow plough went past about 30 minutes ago and built a set of fortifications that would have detered the German Army in WWII.
Gemma and myself went into battle with only two shovels, two wooly hats, three scarves and two pair of gloves. OMG I NEED A SNOW BLOWER!!!
Well one thing for all this shovelling it is helping me stick with my new years resolution to get fitter. Who needs a gym membership
Tomorrow I will get you some photos of the snow banks now around 6 feet high
