My initial research indicate Canada is a Better Place to live in all aspect, except for wheather, One of the main reason for the Australian boom was the chinies economy, which kept things good for OZ. hence the boom, Since Chinies are now in a economic soup, so are all those who were dependent on them. and the recovery of the chinies economy would be very slower. This is why there is a lot of call for cut in migration to australia
Canada is concern they were dependent on the US economy, but unlike the chinies economy the US economy is likely to come out of the mess sooner, This is why there are no plans for cut in migration.
Further if you are a canadian and not satisfies things over there you could move to US without any paperwork under NAFTA. where as in OZ one is stuck.
Further I observe in canada there is a sence of Welcoming for the migrants where as in OZ they want migrant mainly to fill their labour shortage.
this is my opinion I could be wrong, all are welcom to share their opinion.

Given the outlook, you should definitely apply for Canadian migration. Canada is also so welcoming to migrants, unlike Australia which only intends to fill some labour shortages (so mean).
I hope to see you soon in the Canada forum then.

We were thinking about Canada too, but the time it takes to get the visa put us off (1-2 years). Let's hope it doesn't take as long for Oz! It doesn't seem to be that easy to find a job in Canada either...

Not sure about wages being better in Sydney, from what i can tell wages are better in Canada, although I guess it depends what industry you are looking at. Sydney cost of living is higher than the Toronto.

Talking about the weather. If global warming raises the sea level by the estimated 10m which country is the safest place? I would imagine Canada will be fine but Aus, esp WA, I think it could be a big worry!
Skiing in Canada though must be the best place in the world.
Higher temperatures and the lack of rain in Aus must be a worry

Canada for sure is a great country. We applied and were accepted in the late 90's....took three years to process a visa then. Now it is up to 5.....
Something worth thinking about....

Jobs are getting hard to find just about anywhere these days, due to the economic meltdown. Canada's banking system has been rated number one in the world and is better positioned for a faster recovery, although i think OZ's banks are pretty sound too.

thats the reason I think its easier to find a job in australia..
also, certain occupations like civil/mechanical engineers, nurses (most of the occupations on CSL) etc. are much better prospects in Australia..
what Canada does need is manual labor work force, truck drivers, security personnal etc... I've seen so many immigrants with impressive academic qualifications having to do these jobs just to pay the bills while they struggle to find a more appropiate job - which does take time and sometimes involves relocating..
Thats just my opinion though ..
