Re: Have you ever been on the telly??

LOL...it was at the beginning of the episode - the murder or whatever it was had just happened inside the supermarket and the Anderson, complete with incredibly orange hair at the time, had just...

Re: Have you ever been on the telly??

Re: Wooden houses in Canada? O NO!!! / Concrete?

Re: Have you ever been on the telly??

You can see the back of me on a 1998 X files episode - the one with the small supermarket (which was Shop Easy on Shaughnessy in Port Coquitlam) and the possessed doll, called Chinga (season 5)....

Re: Do we want to move to Canada for the right reasons

Re: Do we want to move to Canada for the right reasons

I think the other thing to consider is age. In my twenties/early thirties, I could hold my own physically, if I had to, in dodgy situations. These days I am more likely to suffer whiplash from my...

Re: started the balling rolling

My UK Uni tried to pull this one on me, and about nineteen years had gone by, by the time I needed a transcript. If it is an accredited degree issuing institution, it is required to keep your...

Re: Want to go home, husband doesn't

You are going to SK aren't you? For seven months of the year there is no playing out on your chunk of land. Its covered in snow and far too cold for the kids to be out (frostbite). You will be away...

Re: I want to go home, but been told I can't

Re: Do we want to move to Canada for the right reasons

....and I could match them, and likely raise you. ;) Its irrelevant really; what makes any place "safe" is how you define safe and how you live your life. When I lived in Lewisham (briefly, I was...

Re: I want to go home, but been told I can't

The OP appears to have been dealt a particularly harsh deal, though. Eire is hardly a ten hour flight away, her ex could visit and be back home in the same day if he really wanted to. My emotional...

Re: I want to go home, but been told I can't

I did not marry a foreigner. My ex only got into Canada on the back of my qualifications and money, which got us here in the first place. He then abandoned his kids here, has not bothered to see them...

Re: Do we want to move to Canada for the right reasons

Substitute drugs for booze, its the same. Knife crime has not gone up in the UK since I was a teen. Media reporting of it has. http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2008/may/13/ukcrime.boris

Space is quite...

Re: Cost of living- Vancouver vs London

There is also the implied expectation that you work the extra time/random shifts required, as if you don't, someone else will, and you will find yourself out of a job.

Re: I want to go home, but been told I can't

Welcome to my world. It took five years of fighting through the courts to be able to move from Canada, and now, when I can without restriction, I cannot find a job that pays enough to support us back...

Re: Cost of living- Vancouver vs London

We challenged it before, it is right, as we do not get paid for a whole lunch hour, just thirty minute break. We get paid for 70 hours every two weeks. Add in the extra 47 minutes we have to do every...

Re: What are the vancouver people here doing during the olympics

I'm out in the Valley, but no one I know has any interest whatsoever in the Olympics. The cost the taxpayer will have to pick up seems to be the main turn off, particularly since tickets are...

Re: Cost of living- Vancouver vs London

I work for the BC government, and I only get overtime when I get called out by the RCMP/Afterhours in the middle of...
