Yeah I made that point upthread a bit. (post 584) If you're driving you're more likely to be aware of lights and notice cars going through on red whereas I'm only paying attention when I need to...

There is one difference I wouldn't dispute. The belief that cycling on the left is a good idea.

It seems they confuse the 'walk facing the traffic' advice for when there's no sidewalk and apply it...

I'm not a driver so can't speak for driving skills but my experiences just seem the opposite. Courtesy is way better.

Back in Bristol I had to cross at the lights where the Bath and Wells Roads...

I've never pushed anyone in a wheelchair in the UK but the thoughtfulness shown when I'm out with my wife in hers do make me wonder if it would be the same in the UK.

Regardless of learning geography at school - or not - wasn't it interesting just to randomly turn over the pages in an atlas and see where places were?

I still do it now, except mostly on line...
