Re: Amazon.ca is pants!

That's another weird one - used sometimes costs more than new on the same amazon site.

It's worth investigating some of the advertisers directly. Thriftbooks was brilliant a few years...

Re: Amazon.ca is pants!

Yep, irritating that one.

Inclusive of delivery £13.64 on Canada and £10.49 on USA. £3 less. An easy choice.

But did you notice that on the Canada site, it was available on the Marketplace...

Re: Amazon.ca is pants!

Cost has been mentioned throughout the thread as well as selection.

Yet they do carry many of the same items and often cheaper.

It's worth emphasising the point so people don't carry on with...

Re: Amazon.ca is pants!

Both qualified for free...

Re: Amazon.ca is pants!

...but his recovery was aided by the discovery that there were times when it was actually better and he now lives in Upstate New York to be closer to Canada.

He really is still alive....

Re: Amazon.ca is pants!

Yes. It's a little known fact that when he was connected up to the machines in hospital he was able to access an early version of the internet, but they didn't want ordinary people to know and it was...

Re: Amazon.ca is pants!

I don't recall Frank Serpico complaining about it.

Re: Amazon.ca is pants!

With the reverse being true sometimes as well as the other differing experiences, so the thread actually serves a useful purpose after all. :)

Re: Amazon.ca is pants!

I only made one point...I wasn't talking about the cost of the call and whoever bore it, my point was about the additional cost, over and above the cost of a normal call.

I don't have a cell phone...

Re: Amazon.ca is pants!

I might be missing your point but I used to resent the additional cost to me of calling a mobile number in the UK compared to a land line.

It didn't seem right that someone else's decision to be...

Re: Amazon.ca is pants!

Maybe that accounts for the comparatively big difference I saw on something a few days ago. But what made me disregard that option was the overall cost rather than because it was UPS delivered.

If...

It's certainly worth checking, as you obviously do, rather than mistaken assumptions and, as you say, there are often exceptions.

On a general note, I'm surprised so many posters...

Re: Amazon.ca is pants!

The Jimmy Eat World CD I just bought retails for $16.99 in the local HMV store. Plus tax. Plus the cost to get there (although our buses are free right now:))

Amazon Canada $12.60 inclusive tax...

Re: Amazon.ca is pants!

There's not as much there, but I do find identical things on there cheaper than UK or US.

Just a few days ago I ordered a CD (new) from The Canadian site that was a couple of quid cheaper than the...

Re: Amazon.ca is pants!

I find it changes. Sometimes it's better and/or cheaper.

Particularly the case with marketplace (new or used) purchases.
