Re: Crime rates

My thought was that Ralph Klein, former premier of Alberta, is someone who's head most people would like severed and delivered to them. I suppose shoving him through a wood chipper would work equally...

Re: Crime rates

I can't say, I don't know Calgary well. I think physically it looks like Denver while the business world there is more like that in Houston. I bought a bag of weed there once from a guy who dressed...

Re: Crime rates

Thank you but I wish Chi_Nook would post about something other than my life.

He's advanced a point of view there which, it seems to me, contradicts the thinking behind many previous posts. He...

Re: Crime rates

This put me in mind of a car park attendant where I often park. He flames. One day I'm pulling out and I ask him how he is,

"I'm beside myself with glee. I must tell you what I've done."

Re: Crime rates

That's an interesting piece. It's easy to see how the foreign population of places like Charlottetown and Halifax went up by such large percentages, that's just a second Chinese restaurant opening,...

Re: Crime rates

I was pleased with that. However, criminality is at work in our backyard; the donkey led a charge up the hill and a mile down the road. I must now take the woman who had to herd them up strong drink...

Re: Crime rates

It's slightly different here in that non-integration, hyphenation, is government policy but, yes, that's another way in which life in London is not unique but very much like life in Toronto.

Re: Crime rates

Then why did you suggest that Toronto could spread out so as to reduce the population density, it already stretches as far as the eye can see.

btw, I've just been told that the 401 is slow due to...

Re: Crime rates

He should be able to speak French, yes, but it doesn't follow that he should speak French first and yet very many Prime Ministers (Trudeau, Chretien, Mulrooney) have been francophones. Donc, I think...

Re: Crime rates

I asked that earlier but for different reasons; Jules doesn't seem to realize that there's some urban sprawl around Toronto.

Re: Crime rates

This is rather old but:

"18% of the 164,200 immigrants were unable to converse in either English or French when they settled in Canada. This was partly because of the high proportion of immigrants...

What about the family and refugee classes of immigrant? What proportion of immigrants do you think come under those classes?

The Prime Minister is typically a francophone. I'd say ruling is...

Re: Crime rates

I'm not talking about illegal immigrants, though they are a valuable resource to the country and, I suppose, contribute to increasing the population density. Most legal immigrants are not skilled...

Re: Crime rates

You're thinking of skilled workers, most immigrants are not skilled workers.

French, btw, is the tenth most commonly spoken language in the GTA, it's next to useless here.

Re: Crime rates

It's still tricky to compare though, the relative lack of firearms in the UK might reduce the murder rate while increasing the rate of serious assault (a person shot dead will not offend again...

Re: Crime rates

1. Recreational drug use is the cornerstone of Canadian society. Weed is to Canada as beer is to the UK. So it's rather tricky to stay away from drugs.

2. Hard drug habits need to be funded...
