You can register in a state first and then apply to the ANMC for a modified assessment....FACT.

I've got plenty of grey hair and am well over 40 :(

Fortunately I only needed to register with the state because I already have a resdency visa. ;)

If you do not need the points for a visa application you do not need to apply to the ANC. You register with the individual state.

I have registered with NSW and never applied to the ANC.

I really see no point in applying to the ANC for initial assessment.

It is just as easy to register in a state first and then apply for the far cheaper modified ANC assessment. You have to...
