I generally come up with a lot of the 'things' we should do.
She generally finds restaurants and bars for us to try. Fair play - she's incredibly good at picking some awesome places.

Re: Sri Lanka

Oh goodness, I don't mean to sound like a total holiday fun killer.

I like to have lists of things that we want to do / see / go to and then each day we can decide what happens next. Some things...

Re: Sri Lanka

We generally:

Pick location
Start to research it.
Adjust, to include an extra bit or plan a rough 4days here, 4 days there, 3 days there and home type sketch.
Decide on a single / multiple...

Re: Sri Lanka

Yeah, muck and bullet train rides in 2nd class through Vietnam are something that I've enjoyed and look back laughing about, but don't always want to do. Thankfully there was a Sheraton at the other...

Re: Sri Lanka

I have it in the step-family, which is why I agreed. I receive a total sneer at not having kids yet and mentioning that we're in no rush and may one day decide not to....because they have two and...

Re: Sri Lanka

Lots of interesting posts there. I appreciate people sharing.

I'm of the mind set that I'm keen for kids and it's something I'd enjoy and really grow with. That being said, I'm also innately...

Re: Sri Lanka

Agreed completely. It almost makes me want to not bother so I can have the argument my whole life.

Don't use the word 'excuses' either. You choose not to have children, you don't then have excuses...

Re: Sri Lanka

We talk about it. I'm quite keen, she is but nowhere near ready to meet the sacrifices.

On one day I can imagine having them tomorrow and loving life. On another day I can imagine making a choice...

Re: Sri Lanka

I wish I'd been nice about your cat now.

It is what it is, we're all different, taking the positive, at least it's a different question to 'when are you having kids' or 'when are you moving...

Re: Sri Lanka

It is what it is. I don't get any pressure from any family at all. I don't get pressure from her or from myself. I get the odd 'your next' from the boys at golf or the pub etc but genuinely no...

Re: Sri Lanka

I would have enjoyed that. I'm nicer in person.

It's bliss. Sunny, breezy, waves crashing.
Galle is a good idea, thanks.

No baby Scamps though. Gotta marry her first. Not a proposal...

This is a chance...

Re: Sri Lanka

Me too. It's beyond dull. It's soul-destroying.

Slowly I shall turn this trip into activity mornings, beach/pool afternoons....which basically means I get to go exploring in the morning and sleep...

Re: Sri Lanka

Points 1 and 2 are our motivation.
It's the trade off for me having the Japan holiday in August....she can have a beach holiday with zero 'exploring' pressures.
Point 4 interests me greatly too. ...
