Re: Professional copuple moving in Nov/Dec - Opinions on cities

Cricklewood became popular with those forced out of Zone 1 &2 locations due to pricing. Not all bad. Public transport on hand to move people to places where more is happening.

Re: Professional copuple moving in Nov/Dec - Opinions on cities

A fair indication of the usual inability to follow something through with any since of arguement. You mentioned Cricklewood , an area I know (as I do Brent) But failed to follow through. One thing...

Re: Professional copuple moving in Nov/Dec - Opinions on cities

I guess Gullible Gary caught out again. Don't always believe what you read on the packet. While few would venture to Cricklewood in all likelihood for a night out, there is more available there than...

Re: Professional copuple moving in Nov/Dec - Opinions on cities

No one would ever, have ever gone to the City of London for a night out. The boozers in the area tend to close early (as we discovered when attempting The Circle Line Pub Crawl many years ago) Big...

Re: Professional copuple moving in Nov/Dec - Opinions on cities

Yes Perth certainly takes some getting used to for anyone used to a night life type city. While there has been a growth in small bars, somewhat over hyped, I'd say the Casino a bit out of the city...

Re: Professional copuple moving in Nov/Dec - Opinions on cities

My response would be with regards that other poster as fairly on the mark. Although health focus is a big part , at least in the lives of many in OZ, mental health is rather shocking. Likely a...

Re: Professional copuple moving in Nov/Dec - Opinions on cities

Well no problems just begin as cop it on all sides. Just wonder why you think it would prove to be any different? Increasingly a vocation in itself, regardless of ability and certainly knowledge.

Re: Professional copuple moving in Nov/Dec - Opinions on cities

I can envisage issues but as already written the OP has had experience in another New World country so hopefully recalls the pitfalls along with the reasons for returning. One should not...

Re: Professional copuple moving in Nov/Dec - Opinions on cities

I'd suggest otherwise. The work place is increasingly being made into a place of least resistance the more desirable. Add cost and viola. Challenges and changes in work composition on top of poor...

Re: Professional copuple moving in Nov/Dec - Opinions on cities

Well there is a definite trend to employ Sub Continental workers over others in certain areas. Fall into line more readily and don't tend to challenge. I know the term White Man's Burden, but I doubt...

Re: Professional copuple moving in Nov/Dec - Opinions on cities

I expect fully endorsed. Especially if on half the salary and dependent on the good will of those already on shore in position to maintain the job.

Re: Professional copuple moving in Nov/Dec - Opinions on cities

I haven't personally checked out Irish loaning procedures in the latest round, but would be surprised from info gathered from those on the ground there if too much has changed. Like Australia, a...

Re: Professional copuple moving in Nov/Dec - Opinions on cities

I would say that the covid situation contributed towards your unsuccessful Canadian experience. But perhaps there was more. I had a Glaswegian girlfriend many years back whom met in London, who had...

Re: Professional copuple moving in Nov/Dec - Opinions on cities

We bought in Co Galway way back in late 80's. New build at a very good price very close to Lake Corrib. Little work there at the time so rented out and returned to London. But it seems Ireland learnt...

Re: Professional copuple moving in Nov/Dec - Opinions on cities

The only struggles would be the likelihood of over inflated Sydney property market putting a dampener on the immigration experience. Obviously various factors may have played out to nullify the...

Re: Professional copuple moving in Nov/Dec - Opinions on cities

Plenty live in Toronto and obviously many don't live below the poverty line, but I can guarantee many, many more live in more strained circumstances than before the rot with housing was unleashed out...

Re: Professional copuple moving in Nov/Dec - Opinions on cities

Perth inner city areas you mention have suffered rather considerably over recent years. Empty shops galore. I live in Leederville and while would most unlikely ever swap it for a suburb it does have...

Re: Professional copuple moving in Nov/Dec - Opinions on cities

As the OP has lived in Toronto, it could be assumed that they will have a fair idea as to living in a new world city. Just reverse the weather conditions and rally not so very different. Toronto...

Re: Professional copuple moving in Nov/Dec - Opinions on cities
