I think you have someone who is just a touch over zealous. When I moved to Dubai I just wrote a letter to Bexley Council saying that I had moved. They didn't ask for any sort of confirmation etc...

If your colleague signed a contract then the Landlord will have to honour that contract so at least they will have some idea as to when they will have to move out.

Also bear in mind when renting that YOU have to pay Agent's commission which is 5% of the rent!:blink:
