I had forgotten how cheap UK car insurance is. I currently pay just over $1800 a year for 2 cars in the US and I have been driving a long time. That includes 14 years in the US.

Also to note. I left in 2008 and still have a reasonable credit score in the UK. The other trick is to have an Amex card and use global transfer to get a credit history.
