Re: A General Moan - Things that irk you about Spain!

I said I'd leave the last word to you, but I have to agree with your assessment of Caixa. You've unearthed a couple of memories I'd forgotten. The old trick of switching the purpose of my...

Re: A General Moan - Things that irk you about Spain!

Haha.... The fact that they give a commission (or did do, I don't think they do it any more) is irrelevant to forming my opinion. 50 euros! You have my soul for eternity! Yes, I'm that easily bought....

Re: A General Moan - Things that irk you about Spain!

He did say stay away, but his supporting evidence didn't support the opinion 'trashed'. I've had much worse service from other Spanish and UK banks. I joined because my neighbour was a customer and...

Re: A General Moan - Things that irk you about Spain!

I wouldn't call that being 'absolutely trashed', more like a mild criticism. And I've been with ING for about 10 years now, and never have I had any of the problems described in that article. From...

Re: A General Moan - Things that irk you about Spain!

Whoever is the ultimate owner, I find it a refreshing change from my previous banks Santander and Caixa. The staff are very competent and it has longer opening hours than other banks in Spain.

Re: A General Moan - Things that irk you about Spain!

I"m an ex civil servant and our pensions are not taxpayer donated. We paid for them by a deduction from our salaries over and above income tax and NI contributions. And the vast majority of civil...

Re: A General Moan - Things that irk you about Spain!

Try ING, an excellent bank. Mostly online, but the staff in the branches are very helpful. Better than the two previous two mainstream banks that I've used.

Re: Modelo 720 Under Attack from EU Justice

I spoke to my accountant (who's also very well connected politically) about this and he's of the opinion it was designed principally to catch Spanish tax dodgers, foreigners living here just got...

Re: BRITS LEAVING SPAIN

Erm...I think it was you that was offended! And anyone who bandies around the phrase 'woke snowflake' is definitely a bit delicate. I was just trying to give some information, since updated by...

Re: BRITS LEAVING SPAIN

I think your reply rather than my small contribution warrants the term 'keyboard warrior', but rant or diatribe, your choice!

Re: BRITS LEAVING SPAIN

The point I was making was it has to be renewed, its not permanent. But thanks for the rant!

Re: BRITS LEAVING SPAIN

I'm pretty certain that retirees can only get a four year visa to live in Australia, then it has to be renewed. A permanent visa, without family connections, is not possible.

Re: The Queen's speech

I'm not a supporter of the monarchy, but agree with the rest of your comment. With his close friendships with paedophiles, and his blatant financial corruption, he's a national disgrace. But I'm sure...

I haven't seen that version, could you post it? If he hasn't been involved, that's fine. Just because there's plenty of smoke, i.e. evidence of him being on very friendly terms with the convicted...

Are you kidding? There are hundreds. Use google or duckduckgo.com or any search engine and type in the words "Prince Andrew and young girls' or something similar and you'll find everything you need.

This is one of the images that's been all over the world's press in the last few years. Andrew, one of the accusers, and Ghislaine Maxwell who's just been found guilty of sex trafficking children. ...

Wow. Even my 96 year old mother has read these claims, and seen them aired on tv. Have you been living in a cave for the last few years? This comment has to be satire surely!

Re: The Queen's speech

That's why I asked my question here. If there hadn't been a thread about the royal family I wouldn't have bothered.
