Re: Transferring from Canadian office directly to Green Card via EB2/3

I was in Mexico last week and asked CBP looks like you are right and my lawyers are wrong. Pretty cheesed that I paid to go up to Vancouver when I could have got to the border for $2.50 on the...

Re: Transferring from Canadian office directly to Green Card via EB2/3

PERM approved. Filing I140 with premium processing this week.

May bulletin is out with no movement as expected so probably won't get to update ya'll until October.

Re: Transferring from Canadian office directly to Green Card via EB2/3

Quick update. As the April visa bulletin indicates it is highly unlikely my PD will become current this FY. Expecting PERM approval end of April/early May if I'm not audited.

Re: Transferring from Canadian office directly to Green Card via EB2/3

Correct March is my PD.

The lawyers said we could file based on the dates in table B of the visa bulletin. It obviously won’t be approved until it’s current but as long as I can file I should be...

Re: Transferring from Canadian office directly to Green Card via EB2/3

PERM inching closer. I've evaded company layoffs until now. ETA for PERM approval is May looking at the 13-14 months processing time.

Re: US Visa query

Hopefully a trade deal will happen at some point that will give Brits a way in like it does for Australians and Canadians.

Re: US Visa query

👍🏻

To clarify. One member of the couple applies as the primary applicant and the other applies as the primary applicant. So two applications.

The one that wasn’t born in a DV eligible country...

Re: US Visa query

The couple can also apply twice if they can cross-charge. Nobody told me this until I was on my fifth DV entry :'(

Re: Transferring from Canadian office directly to Green Card via EB2/3

If you're saying that was not the case under NAFTA then that could still be the case. Not much (anything?) changed visa-wise under USMCA.

My information is based upon this page...

Re: Transferring from Canadian office directly to Green Card via EB2/3

The plan originally was to drive to Blaine, WA from Seattle and get it all sorted but then I noticed they only process Tue-Thurs.

Instead drove to YVR pre-clearance from Seattle with my refundable...

Re: Transferring from Canadian office directly to Green Card via EB2/3

Got my L1-B paperwork. I misunderstood the eligible POEs to get this processed. It turns out you have to go to US-Canadian border or a Canadian pre-clearance airport. So flying to Vancouver probably...

Re: Let's talk about cars

Interesting. They have an exchange in place with BC, Germany and Korea, so if you're moving from one of those, then you can avoid the test altogether.

You'd think there would be some sort of...

Re: Let's talk about cars

Finally did my Behind The Wheel exam here in San Diego. I'd watched a couple of YouTube videos to see what they'd ask before we actually set off (hand signals etc).

The actual test...explains the...

Re: Lost my job While on TN Visa- 60 days Grace Period?

You can also file a I-539 to adjust your status to B1/B2 if you need extra time. You could also risk a border run but I wouldn't advise it.

Re: Transferring from Canadian office directly to Green Card via EB2/3

Thanks. Just hoping I don’t get audited.

PD not being current for ROW just shows how slow things have become. Hopefully it’s temporary.

Re: Transferring from Canadian office directly to Green Card via EB2/3

PWD is now done and PERM was filed late March.

Still on TN. Will be moving to L1B sometime this or next month.

Re: Transferring from Canadian office directly to Green Card via EB2/3

Understood. One thing I had clarified recently was that it’s 90 days from an entry not just the issuance of a TN. I always thought it was 90 days from the first stamp.

I also met with the lawyers...

Re: USA to Canada, opinions.

Definitely was in the 1950s when the first wave of our family moved. These days the main advantage is access to the IEC visa but that's not limited to UK.

Re: Which passport to use traveling USA -> UK

Place of birth on the passport doesn’t necessarily indicate citizenship.

One question I have. What happens if you overstay as a dual citizen entering on a non UK passport?

I know some countries...
