Sorry if I was sounding negative. Point is there are hardly any DV visas becoming available to UK born people. Immigrant Number Use for Visa Issuances and Adjustments of Status in the Diversity Immigrant Category: Fiscal Years 2008 - 2017 (state.gov)
These stats are not recent, but for example Ireland France & Germany received less than 1000 visas combined in each year reported. ( the number of applications is on a different table on the same site)

Well this is a dumpster fire of a thread if there ever was! Bickering, but very little new or useful information after the first post. 🙄

Agreed. I'm so disappointed, as I genuinely thought people would be delighted with this news, and perhaps even grateful for sharing it here on the forum.

Also agreed. Bickering is not really my style, I apologize again if my comments distracted from the good news the thread is about!

That’s correct. The odds can’t be precisely calculated until after the event as the number of applicants per country is also required. We’ve been applying for my Australian better half for a number of years. Her odds vary from year to year, something like 25/1 to 10/1, depending on number of applicants.

For what it’s worth I’m very happy! We’ve been lodging applications for my partner for many years now so this year I get to apply as well. Taking a trip to New Hampshire in a couple of weeks for the fall foliage. I’ve had it in mind Southern New Hampshire would be on the shortlist if we ever won but we’ve never visited so this news is very welcome.

This post puzzles me. Assuming that by “partner” you mean “wife”, you indicate that she would register but you would not. Why was that?

why puzzle? why not just state the fact you are eluding to… that you can can also file based on your spouses eligibility… (spouses being married):

see requirement 1:
https://travel.state.gov/content/dam...tions-faqs.pdf

also while not as common in the US, I see some “Cishet” married couples refer to their husband/wife as partner now… mostly in the UK but down under as well…a long time ago that may have indicated unmarried or non-heteronormative… but now it’s less if an indicator

We’re not married so she’s my partner rather than my wife. I’m not particularly fond of the term but apparently we’re too old to call ourselves boyfriend and girlfriend 😋

I didn't even check if the UK was eligible. Already applied using the wife's country of birth (Thailand) d'oh.
