Agreed it is the safest route.
No restriction in emmigrating but restrictions on starting work, especially for another country, if you do.

Sorry to say once you "land" the UK/Canadian Tag Tax team pass the baton to the CRA to whom you report all income. Sadly you cannot pick and choose to which country you pay which tax.

You have no choice where you declare this income. You must declare any and all income to the CRA from the day you land in Canada. There is a good relationship between the UK and Canadian tax people...
