I have read the Wiki articles, and am slightly confused about ways to get PR in Canada - apart from BUNAC and Sponsorship, is the only other way to get PR through having a solid job...

As far as I know you have to make the actual Application whilst you are still 30 but can enter Canada when you are 31.

I applied in August 2008 and I am currently 30, but will be entering Canada...

No, you did read it right - my partner is a Canadian Citizen and I am initially going on BUNAC and then maybe applying for PR if things go well out there.
