yes - used offer of employment letter, credit letter from bank (but I think you can get this online? we didn't, at any rate) and reference letter from last job in the UK.

When your budget isn't too tight (in the GTA this means at least $1200/mo),
when you have lots of time to look around,

after tax etc the OP is probably looking at more like $3100/month - if half of that goes in rent it doesn't leave much for food/clothes/gas/life etc for 4 adults - you'll definitely want that second...

We looked at a few FSBO sites and places before deciding to go with a realtor. It frustrated the heck out of us - like Zap said, places were sold (by a realtor usually), now on the mls or the owner...
