Hi,
I'm in the process of planning a return to the UK after 12 years in Australia.

Accessing Aus Pension after moving back to the UK and tax thereon

Pensions and tax is so confusing....

So, we have a pension pot (superannuation) which we've amassed during our time in Australia, when we hit 60 it seems we can do almost whatever we like with it...

We've been in Australia for over 10 years and are considering moving back to the UK for retirement.

One concern is the standard of healthcare in the UK, I know the NHS is a wonderful organisation...

That's good to hear, did the USA have the index-linking arrangement? Australia doesn't. i.e. if you had stayed in the USA would your payment still be index linked?

You don't pay tax on your Primary Residence in Australia and no tax to take the money back to the UK so you can do it whenever you choose.

Has anyone looked into this?

Looks like if you're "Living and working abroad" you can pay the (much cheaper) Class 2 rates to top up UK NI and therefore maximise your state pension?
