Re: should my fiance marry me on a tourist visa?

I invite you to tell them that. There's no need to be so ****ing snotty. Jesus, you people are assholes; I'm reminded of why I left the UK in the first place. Excuse the **** out of me for trying...

Re: should my fiance marry me on a tourist visa?

I read it over and over on visajourney.com; they have this same argument at least once a week.

Re: Down To The Nitty Gritty Now

When I left the UK I didn't take any electronics with me except my computer and laptop, which I knew would work in the US. Many other items were cheaper to replace than they were to ship, and I...

Re: should my fiance marry me on a tourist visa?

I'm sorry, I've heard that that is not the case. I don't wish to argue about it because I have no interest in it being true or not, but I don't want to give the OP bad advice. That's all.

Re: should my fiance marry me on a tourist visa?

The OP can do as he/she pleases. I have heard multiple times that it's illegal to enter the US on the VWP with the intent to marry, i.e. the marriage has to be "spontaneous".

Re: should my fiance marry me on a tourist visa?

That's what I've been told and have read numerous times, and I've seen just as many people say that it's bull. I think it's wiser to err on the side of caution.

I did state that a visa is...

Re: should my fiance marry me on a tourist visa?

It is legal to marry in the US on a tourist visa only if you didn't enter the country with the intention to marry, and you'd have to leave the US to adjust your status. You MUST get the K-1. What...

Re: Working illegally in New York

Citizens of the UK don't qualify for the diversity lottery unless they're from Northern Ireland. Are you from there?

Re: Do you have American God-fearing in-laws?

That's because we're already a nation of expats. ;) Basically we mostly have a great thing going here...why leave? We're also fiercely patriotic (as a whole), and a lot of Americans see Americans...

Re: Would you rather live in the UK or US (Telegraph Article)

Houses are cheaper here, that's for sure...but there's not a huge difference in the price of things otherwise.

Re: Does this country make any sense to anyone?

But maybe that's exactly what she should do. I'm not trying to be ugly; I know from personal experience that sometimes, an overseas move doesn't work out the way you wanted it to and you...

Re: Does this country make any sense to anyone?

I'm American, lived in the UK for years, am now back in the States. I'm an ex-expat.

Re: Do you have American God-fearing in-laws?

I freely admit that I didn't make a good expat. I tried very hard the first couple of years to get into life in the UK, but it just didn't work out. No hard feelings. ;)

Re: Do you have American God-fearing in-laws?

Love, and that's over. That wasn't why I left the UK, though...and I'm not sorry about it!

Basically it boils down like this...some people enjoy living in the UK. That's wonderful...bully...

Re: Do you have American God-fearing in-laws?

Re: Would you rather live in the UK or US (Telegraph Article)

People also need to remember that the Clinton administration and Congress balanced the budget while riding the dot.com boom, when we had lots of happy happy tax revenue and a nicely-growing economy. ...
