Re: San Fran - move is on the cards!!

Hi, welcome, I'm sure you'll have a great time.

Lots of people here will (rightly) recommend you to look in places like MV and...

Re: pay-as-you-go mobile in UK

I'm back and forth to the UK all the time - the best company for this IMHO is Vodafone. They have what's called 'passport' where someone can use their minutes etc whilst calling abroad (aka France)...

Re: The efficiency of french motorways

Do you know how much road tax is in the UK? 1000 EUR in 3 years versus 400 GBP per year (I know my car is in the upper band)....no brainer.

And I just worked it out - I'm spending around 1,000...

Re: The efficiency of french motorways

The efficiency of french motorways

As a Brit and someone who's lived in The Netherlands, Belgium, UK and California, I am ALWAYS amazed at the efficiency of french motorways and the Gendarmarie....

Yesterday did the 'commute' from...

Re: Flight costs

I've found the flight prices to be an absolute pain in the winter months - summer flights have great bargins and lots of flights, but as winter closes in, the schedule get's limited and prices shoot...

British in and around Saumur

Hi all

Me and my better half have now settled into Saumur in the Loire Valley. My wife is originally from this area (yes, I was sensible enough to marry a French lady!), and we've spent many...

Just to get this thread back open to it's original purpose :) we're living in Saumur (well Bagneux, just outside Saumur). We're in our early thirties, 2 kids (4 and 2) and my wife is French. We've...

Re: Speeding fine - is my understanding correct?

Re: Speeding fine - is my understanding correct?

It all depends (ambiguous, I know...).

I drive Calais to Saumur (4-5 hours) every other week in my UK car. I've physically been caught once doing 155 on the motorway - on the spot fine and all...

Re: Any ideas about best "roaming" deals?

Definitively get a local sim. Doing this 'stuff' for a while now, I'd recommend:-

- Pay as you Go SIM card to be put in her phone whilst in the UK (if you want the contract, great, but it's not...

Re: Driving

Hi,

Well, I couldn't agree more, however there's one big difference from France to UK on driving. In France, the majority drive the way they do, which makes it pretty predictable (yes, you do...

I'm on an L1A and, as many, for my entry I'll be taking all the paperwork, just in case. For this visit and future entries etc,...
