I guess I didn’t know about the new additional tax credit for seniors this year, until I seriously got into doing our taxes a couple of days ago. It’s $6,000 per person, $12,000 if you’re...

Re: IRS Annual Average Exchange Rate

My head is even fuzzier this year than last. Are these the correct reciprocals?

Treasury rate £1 = $1.3459
IRS annual average 2025 £1 = $1.3175

Re: Moving Back to US - Would you do it now?

Obviously, you can choose to vaccinate your children. But what about infants and babies contracting measles and other contagious diseases before the recommended minimum age of vaccination? In the...

Re: Moving Back to US - Would you do it now?

A lot of food for thought in this thread, but since the OP has a two year old, I’d focus in on the safety, health and security of young children. Measles, just one example. There was a good...

Re: 1st Tax Return - pensions?

Form 8938. You’ll just need to give the name and address of the pension provider, and your membership or account number, if I remember correctly.

Re: ETA - Dual citizens must have valid UK passport

Retiree Former Lancastrian has been advised that this must not happen again. As you suggest, there is a wealth of esoteric knowledge that is vouchsafed to people when they attain Retired Status -...

Re: Renew UK Passport Payment Options/Shipping

I mailed mine in from the local post office. They give you all the documentation for confirmation, routing number etc. Much easier and more straightforward than using a commercial shipping company.

Re: Old UK passport - keep it?

I’ve still got all my old YHA membership cards, with all the stamps for the overnights. Hmm .. haven’t seen them for a few years, but I know they are somewhere!

Re: WTF in America Part 2

Re: Old UK passport - keep it?

Re: GOP senator moves to end dual citizenship

Article is interesting, but odd in one regard. It singles out US/Israeli dual citizenship as a dealbreaker, a reason dual citizenship couldn’t be banned because Israel is such a close ally, and...

Re: GOP senator moves to end dual citizenship

(If I had to choose, I’d give up the US. ...
