Re: NZ for retirement (dual UK//NZ citizen)

Blimey, is that for a live in doctor and medical team.

I have full cover health/hospital/pharmacy+ for less than $70 a week and I'm 61 years old

Re: Changes to NZ blood donation

Considering they are supposedly so short of donors and blood stock is low, they don't seem to be doing very much to get this info out. There must be tens of thousands of migrants affected by this,...

Re: Flight disruption in Nelson - is this common?

I heard that on the news the other day and thought it was a bit odd. I think it might have been on the news because it was an uncommon thing, or it could have been a slow news day ๐Ÿค”
we get a few...

Re: Preparing to move.

We did a huge tiki tour right around the south island, and a lot of places all through the interior. I struggled to find places I liked as much as where I am. I did like the idea of disappearing to...

Re: Preparing to move.

Haast !! You gotta be joking. He said rural, not remote. From Haast it's 150km, if the road is open, to the nearest supermarket. Haast is the place where people from remote hideaways go to hide....

Re: Preparing to move.

Otago on the South island sounds just up your street.
I'm in a tiny town down here. Afterschool activities are limited to school sports practice. It's nothing like the UK. It's normal to see kids...

Re: Preparing to move.

It's difficult to compare cost of living from one place to another, but NZ is notoriously expensive for anything, food, fuel, house prices, rents, vehicles, etc etc.

I would do some research...

Re: Insurancers - House - contents - car.

Everything is with ASB. Vehicles are with AA.
Don't know the costs, the wife covers all that stuff.

Re: Young UK family looking to move to NZ - but where, please help :)

Shame you didn't think of that when you went to Timaru.

The problem is, what people want is subjective. Personally I can't abide Auckland. It's a terrible place. The CBD is the most uninspiring...

Re: Where do the Brits like to live in Auckland?

Not sure it has white anything.
New Zealand European, Mฤori, Samoan, Cook Islands Mฤori, Tongan, Niuean, Chinese, Indian and other, are usually the choices.
you can be more specific under other if...

Re: Where do the Brits like to live in Auckland?

In keeping with the current trends, I have been identifying as an afro Caribbean woman for several weeks now. It's really been quite an eye opener

Re: Where do the Brits like to live in Auckland?

Re: Six on, six off?

Yes I know all that Bev's. However I don't see it as any different to the UK system that everyone complained about. Migrants pouring into the UK and later piggybacking others off one visa. It can be...

Bit of a breeze came through and cleared the cobwebs, nothing more.

The local ranges and landscape shield our little township which means we tend to escape most of...

Re: Current weather and quakes in NZ. All OK?

There's was a boil water alert in Qtown for a wee while before the weather came through.

Weather is great here in otago, could do with a few more showers in summer but on the whole it's pretty...

Re: Six on, six off?

Re: Six on, six off?

TBH I hate the fact that visas can be issued under this kind of blatant manipulation.
Residency should be for people who will contribute in some way towards the needs of the country, not those who...

Re: If we get our visas - what do we do with UK resources?

I can tell you right now what will happen.

With such a half arsed low level of commitment to embracing NZ, I really wouldn't bother coming.

it's no different than going UK to NZ, and within very little time the kids who come here are usually settled...
