I wouldn't count on it...the fires were hot enough to turn the metal on vehicles into molten metal and the inside of a house would have been just the same. Maybe under different circumstances, but...

It is all a bit difficult to take in. Many friends have lost everything and have lost parents, brothers, sisters, other family members. Some are injured and in hospital, but thankfully alive.

My Dad can't do online donations so it would be great if Red Cross/UK banks set up a disaster fund. It would make it easy for people to donate cash over the counter who can't do online.

We have so far had a good experience with White and Company - they're delivering the stuff to us here in Melbourne tomorrow, so will let you know if it goes well at this end too!

Don't know if this helps but I had my meds referred to Sydney too - apprently they do this for any blips at all, from mild asthma upwards, so if anyone has any minor ailments that might explain...

Anglo Pacific delivered our friend's belongings back to Oz after 2 years in the UK. No one was in, so they left all his stuff on the front lawn, totally out in the open for anyone to pinch!!...
