Guys please make a list if already over in oz or just about too,from when you applied for your visa to the day you went,what must be done before leaving,and to get before leaving,cancel,copy just stuff thats important before moving to oz from the uk for good.
I want to make a list of this for when i plan on going, i suppose things can be done well in advance,some during the wait of the visa and stuff just before going.

Turn your cooker off otherwise it might catch fire. Also cancel your milk because you won't be needing that delivered if you live here

Bring important paper work with you eg:- birth certificate, house/car insurance documents etc in your suitcase you will need these before your container arrives, also sentimental things - photos etc just in case.

Sort out your tax P85, inform pensions agency etc

Think of what you will need for about 8 weeks until your stuff arrives!!

if you have kids make sure that TAX CREDITS knows you are leaving and that you have a letter from them confirming that you are no longer claiming taxcredits.

A lot of people on here have had problems with them AFTER they have left.

In fact cancel it now and do without the money. Seriously if it were me in your shoes I would. I thought six weeks notice and letters of confirmation before we left the UK would be fine. Not a sodding hope. You don't need that money that badly believe me.


Oh, make sure your passports are up to date. There's no point in putting a visa in a passport that's only got a year or so to go.

Could you nip, down to the midlands, look for 2 fat american evangelists, and run them over for me.. they stuffed me around, and owe me a heap of money..

Also a fella called Jim Watts in Cumbernauld, ... fraudulently stole flooring from us in the uk, with stolen credit card.. to the tune of 4 grand... please go and sort him out too..

The NEXT fairy is always turning up at our house- love great for kids

You can't officially notify them till one week beforehand, I already tried!
I now have to phone again this week, as if I don't have a big enough list of cr*p to do already without phoning them twice!
Also, I couldn't cancel my TV licence in advance, again I have to ring them this week and tell them....gawd bless the UK
