Re: UK Pound v's Euro

I wouldn't worry too much. It is a GLOBAL problem and the pound has always been cyclical. If today's Observer is anything to go by at least the UK is doing something about the problem now....

Re: New Marina plan for Tavira

I guess the Carrefour that's going in the bloody great shopping centre will probably see off Pingo Doce. And I presume there must be some king of plan to develop the area from the main road bridge to...

Re: Recommended Restaurants

Just got back from Tavira again and I always try to go to at least one different restaurant every time. This time it was O Ciclista. You take the turn off to Cachopo by the N125 bridge over the...

Re:  It's all going wrong...

Sorry to say this but I'm afraid you are far from being a model customer. The banks will only like you if you've missed 20 payments on your credit card but paid all the charges and if you've lived...

Re: Quinta da Pegada/ Tavira

I hope so but I heard the same thing last year. I'm sorry if I sound doubtful and I'm really grateful for your response but it's just that I've heard so many different rumours I don't know what to...

Quinta da Pegada/ Tavira

I was in Pegada a couple of weeks ago and saw that a JCB had cleared some of the trees and shrubs in front of the old pool. Does anyone have an update on exactly what is going to happen with that...

Re: UK Euro Account or Transfer Money

You can have one but you're just not allowed to continue to contribute to it while you are a resident abroad. But if you've had one for a while and saved a substantial amount in it you can still...

Re: UK Euro Account or Transfer Money

It's a sad fact but whatever you decide to do the banks will screw you in the end. The latest banking farce is a prime example of the madness that it out there. HBOS saw pre-tax profits of £5.7bn in...

Re: Driving from the UK to Tavira

I did that trip in an N-reg Transit van last summer in order to get my hot-tub and a few other bits out there. I used the viaMichelin route finder which was brilliant. Just over the French border...

I live in Lincoln but try to spend as much time as possible in Tavira too. Wow, it looks like most of Portugal is heading to Lincoln and Boston and most of Lincolnshire is heading to the Algarve. One...

Re: Fancy a curry???

Clearly there are a lot of ex-pat curry addicts here but I'd say what you want to do depends on your location. I'd agree with everyone who suggests the Algarve as your best bet to make the most of...

Re: Earthquake in UK

I was in Portugal at the time of the quake and Sky News, and every report I read, said it was 30 miles south of Hull, 40 miles east of Nottingham and so on. Well, what about 15 miles north of LINCOLN...
