Held up by Fed Police checks (both of us) medical (main app only) and UK Police check (main app only!)

Every time the markets get the jitters, the AU$ devalues, albeit temporarily.
We saw it just before Xmas when Europe last threw a wobbly. Up from $1.48 to nearly $1.60 then back down again, coz...

Medicals - only the main applicant has to have one. No explanation why.
AFP checks - both need them. Fair enough - we have been here for 3 years and could have been very naughty in that time!!

Interesting info.
You only have to do medicals because you've been in a high risk area since validating???
Well we haven't been anywhere but the UK so I cant figure that one out!

Yeah I thought more UK police checks was odd. Main applicant has been back to the UK 3 times in 3 years for 2-3 week holidays. And there's no way anyone would know.

I don't really see the point....

Application submitted online on 1st December.
CO allocated 8th December, which is pretty quick.
But.....

Well the error on the DOB has been corrected (took 7 days & another phone call).
Back to the online application 2nite.

It turns out that the online application was rejected because someone at Immigration had entered my DOB incorrectly onto the database!!!
A week later we are still waiting for it to be corrected !!! ...

Anyone had problems with the online 887 applications?
We got as far as the de facto relationship only to have the date we entered (same as on the initial 496 visa appl.) rejected.

If they've over sold the flight you should have demanded an upgrade to business class. Most airlines will concede this if you push them. Just have to stand your ground.

yup, quite agree. Had one near where I used to work. God awful food dressed up to LOOK nice ! Completely lacking in quality.
Anyone else was way better, Tesco, Sainsbury, Morrisons etc etc

Emirates seem to have had a bad press lately. Not flown with them to Oz for 2 years now but going to UK in May to use up Skywards airmiles. Will be interesting to see how/if they've changed. 777...

ASDA better than Tesco ?? Don't make me laugh!! :rofl: Food quality is crap at ASDA, in comparison.....cheap junk. Waitrose was deffo the best of the 3...IF u could afford it...which I rarely could...

It can work the other way too. If you have been out of the UK for more than 1 year you may not qualify for free NHS treatment.
