Re: Driver/Taxi Service Wanted - Brive Airport

If you consider an offer of help a "service", and summarily delete a message without the courtesy of explaining why, other than accuse someone of "advertising" when they are merely offering...

Re: Driver/Taxi Service Wanted - Brive Airport

Interesting that my offer of help has been deleted - I thought that one of the purposes of this forum, was to help each other.
Never mind, I shan't bother again.

Re: Wives! Who'd have 'em!

They may think they are always right. Sometimes it's best to let them think that they are, at other times a little remonstration is appropriate!

Re: Wives! Who'd have 'em!

My old wife left some years ago, and I later acquired a new one.

However, the mattress (over 12 years old) remains. The bed was bought at John Lewis, and has given good service over the last...

Re: Registering with a doctor

I've been registered with a doctor here since 2007 - he had his own surgery tucked away in the centre of the town.
This year, they have opened a nice new "health centre" on the outskirts, (to which ...

Re: Last throes?

I'm still here - I log in most mornings to catch up, but don't post much at the moment.

One reason for my wariness, is that other blogs I'm a member of are getting a bit political, and a bit...

Re: Looking at moving to France (Limousin or surrounding)

Having lived in the Limousin for twelve years, I can thoroughly recommend it. It suits me fine, tranquil, quiet, little traffic (even in the summer it's not too bad). Very rural, wooded and hilly...

Re: Disgruntled Expats

I wrote what I thought, whether you approve, or not. It IS interesting, and the populist and nationalist cause, to my way of thinking, is the preferred one. Funny how so many of these forums are...

Re: Disgruntled Expats

It's all very interesting. "Trumpism" is changing the world (for the better, in my view), and nationalism/popularism seems to be on the rise, at last, at least in parts of Europe. I would be...

Re: Dreaming of moving to France as retired Police officer

Paul, I was married when I arrived, then divorced. (Since remarried - mad!), our joint mutuelle was about 1600 Euros ten years ago. Anyway, currently my mutuelle for one person, is an all-singing,...

Re: Dreaming of moving to France as retired Police officer

I was in a similar situation, eleven years ago. Things clearly have changed since then.

However, if you don't take your tax-free lump sum, and receive an increased pension instead, that'll be...

Re: Can i live ina caravan while renovating a House

I know a couple who have been doing just that for some years, with no problems, whatever. The building they have been working on has now become habitable, but the caravan remains on their property.

Re: Wifi in France with no Phone line

Where I live, there is no 4G signal, however if I go to local towns, there is - I can use it on my mobile phone. So for guaranteed internet connection at home, I rely on wimax or satellite.

Re: Wifi in France with no Phone line

I've used wimax here for many years. Generally, it is reliable and quite fast. If you are within 20 Km of a transmitter, with line of sight, you should be OK. Numeo are one provider - you can get...

Re: Broadband issues!

Tried SkyDSL in the early days - it was, of course, expensive, and a hybrid system, then - dial-up upload, satellite download. Probably an entirely different system, now.

What you describe sounds...

Re: Broadband issues!

We were told that broadband was coming next year - in 2006.

Having got wimax, and the original problems ironed out, and also satellite, I removed the land-line link completely three years ago, and...

Re: Broadband issues!

If it's available in your area, and from your location, try wimax, as supplied, in my case, by Ozone. Not particularly cheap, but it works, is fast, and unlimited. I also have Nordnet satellite, as...
