You'll do well on $70,000 a year. Now that my hubby is studying we scratch out an existence on less than $20k per year, and manage - only just. The biggest expenses here are electric, water...

I've rented out my UK house for 3 years because I couldn't sell it prior to us moving. If people aren't buying, then people will rent. Agree with Kev - keep your rent low as is affordable for you...

That's true too. How are you finding the health nurses over here? We have a local child health centre and they let you get on with it and weigh the bub yourself, whereas back home you practically...

Aptamil back home was made by Nutrcia as was Cow and Gate, therefore, I guess it's Karicare.

So far, I'm noticing a few things over here that are the same brand as the UK, but have a different name.

Useful if we could compile a list for new expat shoppers :) or has someone already done...

They let us keep 50% of our food/milks, so whatever you need, if it has to be made up, then bring double!

Don't bother taking a massive tube of nappyrash cream either, they confiscated my nice...
