That's correct also US is not that open for skilled worker. It's no like Canada or Gulf countries for example.

May be Canada I checked and they don't need a sponsor to ge an immigradtion visa, I am not interested in Australia and no immigration is now open for any European country.

It's not easy for the wife to go alone ,search for work and leave the child.
She may apply for a visit visa for the child to travel with her then she can apply for a green card when she join a work...
