Yes and paid 15% on the difference although to be honest its pretty much optional as the US until 2 months ago has no record of any share purchased (yes really).

Yes they can go after you here but unless the debt is high (50k plus) it will be cost prohibitive for them to do so. Normally it is cheaper for them to write down the debt and get tax relief....

Agreed there has got to be some kind of re-alignment ahead. When I was back a lot of people are beginning to rent for this very reason.
