Yes and paid 15% on the difference although to be honest its pretty much optional as the US until 2 months ago has no record of any share purchased (yes really).

Yes they can go after you here but unless the debt is high (50k plus) it will be cost prohibitive for them to do so. Normally it is cheaper for them to write down the debt and get tax relief....

I don't think so but am not 100% sure, I think they just up the apr a bit. I put down a deposit when I bought before. Check out this link it is really helpful for people thinking of buying in the UK...
