173 Sponsor and Income Test

Hi all,

Dad has applied for 173 and I am his sponsor.

As this is a temp visa do I need to "pass" an income test to prove I can financially support him when his visa is finally granted?

Dad applied for 173 Sept 2009, after some confusion with the lovely visa people misspelling his name he finally had his meds done in March 11, what do you think the timeline should be...

Dad booked his medicals last week, and has managed to get appt for Fri 18th at Manchester.

He applied for 173 Oct 2009, and just got a CO last week

Dad's applying for police check tomorrow, and has his medicals on friday, so hopefully things should start happening...

Hi all,

just thought i would give you all an update!

My Dad contacted immi with payment details, dates etc and he was nowhere on the system!

anyway, using the credit card number he's paid...

Sorry, every state except for WA....!

WA still need to catch up with rest of Australia, if you want to work in WA you will have to register with the WA nursing board!

Dad has just spoken to DIAC , and yes, they agree that he should have had acknowledgement within 4 weeks, so they will be sending him an acknowledgment within 2 days, phew!!

thanks, I keep telling him to chase it up, but he phoned immi once and listened to a recorded message, which stated that he wouldn't hear anything for 18 months.

my Dad applied for the 173 visa sept 09, and not heard a thing yet, not even an aknowledgment, should he have received at least a receipt or something for the initial application payment?...
