For al permanent visas (points base) there is an age limit of 45 and that includes State sponsored. Other visas may allow over 45's.

I believe it is valid for 6 months. But once your visa is approved/issue then the same rules apply as to that of a PR visa - ie. you must validate before your PCC/Medicals expire (within one year)...

Unless he/she has already a valid application submitted to the "Skills Matching Database" - then of course can pursue State Sponsorship.

Used this service myself (about 5 years ago) and had excellent seservice in fact we got the RSA pcc's quicker than the UK pcc's.
