Yes and later on when the application is nearly at the 'request for passports' stage they ask for another updated police check. The Canadian one took the longest and we are here in Canada already.

We lived in Saudi Arabia from 1988 to 1998 and applied for Canada in 2004. We attached a letter to the applications saying that it would be extremely difficult to provide police reports from Saudi...

We love Okotoks. The commute isn't too bad. The nearest LRT terminal is about a 20min drive up Macleod Trail. You can park there free all day and get the train into downtown. I did this Friday...

Don't think anyone has mentioned the science museum. It is great there for little kids, and if you are staying in Calgary you can get the LRT to it free of charge.

Anyone out there know how to get hold of a driver's abstract. You need one to insure a vehicle in Alberta. We have only been in Calgary for 5 months.

Your UK dvd player will not work in Canada because the output is different - PAL instead of NTSC.
You are better off getting a multi region DVD player which aren't available in Canada but you can...

Thanks for your reply. It's all a matter of if we are classed as residents, ie. on a resident visa or simply residing in Canada. I have tried contacting Revenue Canada and i just can't get through....
