Re: Moving / Change of Address

Hi, thanks for the info. Did you just file the AR11, or did phone and send any extra address change notifications?

Re: Moving / Change of Address

Thanks for the reply.

It will be a few hours away. We wouldn't mind, since it is only for that last interview. Also, we will still be able to get our mail from the old address (family).

The...

Re: Moving / Change of Address

Unfortunately, for work, we have to move. Keeping the old address would be prefered if it would keep them from making yet more mistakes. Oh well, I guess it can't be done. Thanks for your advice.

Re: Moving / Change of Address

If we don't telephone, and it doesn't trickle down to the district offices, wouldn't that result in less trouble? They would be more likely to use our old address. That's what I meant.

Re: USCIS Screws Up Again

Thanks for all the replies.

It seems like we are hardly alone in experiencing the incompetence of the USCIS. Why are these clerks not accountable? If you worked at a company and botched every form...

Re: Backlash Begins

Of course ppl have to keep wary of abuse of minority groups, but I think the media loves to exaggerate. There are dozens if not hundreds of hate crimes of various degrees of seriousness on a daily...

Re: US Customer Service?

Just my insight into this: I don't think it is customer service per se. It is really an atttitude of avoiding responsibility or being pinned down. They don't want to tell you a figure and have it go...

Does anyone know what the proper way to send stuff to the US is? We have several boxes of personal items, clothed, office equipment, cameras -- all used -- that we would like shipped. I've searched...

Re: Vaccines

No, they didn't really tell us.

We just looked at the list from the website. The only glitch is the Pertussis, which may be only for kids. So the doc **may** have checked "not age appropriate" on...

Re: Vaccines

Thanks a lot for the information.

We are going to try to get a doc to sign off on the form hopefully for a low fee, and then send it with AOS to avoid complications. We also wrote to the original...

Re: Vaccines

Thanks both of you for the advice.

One question: Does the local DO's policy matter? Our local DO doesn't even process the I-485 and sends everything to the infamous "Lockbox" in Chicago (where do...

Re: EAD & Working Continuously ????

Thanks MrDub

Yeah, we will try to be quick on our side, and hope that the USCIS is prompt on theirs -- I wouldn't bet money on that, tho!

Re: Vaccines

Thanks again Rene! Does she need to go to the "US civil surgeon" (is that a USCIS doctor?) rightway or will they request it sometime during AOS? We want to avoid an RFE if possible and make...

Re: Fees and how they should be paid

When you file the I-485 packet, which includes the I-130 paperwork, do you have to pay the I-130 fee too? This is very confusing, as the I-485 page claims the fee is $315 plus $70 for fingerprints....

Re: EAD & Working Continuously ????

Thank you all for your input. So, is the consensus that it is okay for us to:

1. Enter JFK, get EAD stamp
2. Apply SSN
3. Get married approx. 2 weeks later, and file all paperwork
4. Start work...

So, what is the best way...

Re: EAD & Working Continuously ????

Thanks. That's good to know.

Can that be done quickly -- going in person to the USCIS office -- or is it another apply and wait for months deal?
