Of course ppl have to keep wary of abuse of minority groups, but I think the media loves to exaggerate. There are dozens if not hundreds of hate crimes of various degrees of seriousness on a daily basis. I remember the Anti-Defamation League published a full page list of anti-semitic incidents in the USA--which according to mythology is supposedly pro-Jewish -- for the year. It was huge, but most go unreported and unpublicized, since it doesn't fit some grand narrative the media wants to create. I'm sure the same applies ot Muslims and any other minorities groups - gays, lesbians, blacks, etc.
