Moved: British Police Service

I read quite a few newspaper stories about the police service in England.
It appears that they are often overlooking the offenders of crimes in order to
arrest the apparent innocent victims. Often...

Re: Running a B&B ...

I agree that location is very important, but not necessarily oceanfront etc.
Our B&B is in a very historic town which draws a lot of tourists. Although the peak season is short, six months, the rest...

I would like to say that much of the Annapolis Valley has to offer

Re: MOT on Car

Here in Nova Scotia, each vehicle must have a valid MVI (Motor Vehicle Inspection) sticker on the windshield. This is an inspection done at a

Re: Shops and Stores in NS

To most Canadians, I would have to say that this is a really stupid question.
Where do you think you are going, outer Mongolia??
There are loads of "large retailers" of all sorts in Nova Scotia....

Re: Halifax Hotels

Hi,
We really like Halifax's Waverly Inn on Barrington St.
A charming old building in a good location, and reasonable rates.

Re: Docked tails

Another thing to watch out for is if the puppy is sold with a "non breeding contract". It probably wouldn't matter if you have no intention of breeding,
but if you do, it can bump the price up...

Re: Docked tails

According to the Canadian Kennel Club, the breed standard calls for a docked tail, carried high. It would be worth checking with a vet though.

Re: Shipping - anyone packed their own boxes?

I meant to say, don" list anything that will draw attention to a specific box.

Re: Shipping - anyone packed their own boxes?

When we came over (all three times) we packed most of the small stuff
ourselves. The boxes were then labeled as PBO (packed by owner).
We did pack all and sundry, including foodstuffs and drink....

Re: Pointers on house buying

hi Poppy 2,
Houses in rural NS will more than likely have a septic system and a well.
The well may be either a dug well (dug with a backhoe, then lined with 4ft
concrete liner), as a shallow...

Re: Nova Scotia: Shelburne or Yarmouth?

I would check to see what the cancellation policy for the hotel is.
As far as I know, most require 48 hours notice, or they will charge your credit card.

It is nestled between two mountain...

Re: Nova Scotia: Shelburne or Yarmouth?

Its a shame that more people don't make a point of visiting Annapolis Royal

was established in 1605 by Champlain and...

I believe these are procedures laid down by MAFF.
Canada is obliged to follow them. They are decided by "experts" in their
field.
