Yes unfortunately most people esp for some reason UK expats that move to an area dont do their homework or the street might look nice and you end up living next to some local gang member or someone...

That is correct they wont pull the the mandatory amount which is 49% if you don't supply a TFN. But you still must declare all your income once you become a PR in Aust , where ever your earning it....
