Re: Applying for residency without becoming tax resident

Be very careful with this. As Spain doesn't want to miss out on substantial tax revenue through residency rules, it's quite possible that you may become subject to tax investigation, which they can...

Re: How long until the green credit card sized eu citizen card is invalid

Take a photocopy of your passport and padron certificate (volante) as well. Payment card to pay the fee as they don't take cash. Probably a good idea to keep a photocopy of your green certificate.

Re: TIE - Passport Checks

There is little issue currently with those holding UK passport and TIE when arriving in Spain on non-Schengen flight. What I do worry is when the new entry-exit system (EES) is introduced at the end...

Re: Road Maps - Spain and Portugal

Not many people use roadmaps nowadays as Google Map is so much handier, and also gives you traffic updates about congestions and delays.

Re: British Expat living in Canada

Very sensible, as you need documents from your current or recent country of residence, such as police criminal record. Much easier to get it while you are in Canada than after moving to UK.

Re: Spanish boarder issues with Gibraltar

For entering Gibraltar, just show your passport. It may be stamped by Spanish border guard as you are leaving Schengen (show your TIE and they may not), and you will be almost waved through by...

Re: Pensions /tax

AFAIK, they don't specify what exchange rate to use for tax declaration, so it can be the average over the year, rate as at 31st December, or the actual rate used when exchanging into euro. You just...
