Sorry to subject you to this rag but it's worth a read and the comments are priceless. Self awareness is definitely not their thing. They actually use the term "UK subject" in the third paragraph. Hilarious!

But Gibraltar isn't an integral part of the United Kingdom. It's not like the Canary Islands which are part of Spain or how Reunion is part of France. Gibraltar has a different status altogether and isn't part of UK territory.
And for Gibraltar, being part of the Schengen zone is probably WAAAAAAY more important than any border arrangement with the UK. So of course they're going to pursue what's best for Gibraltarians.

Gibraltarians would love to go it alone but unfortunately the Spanish do not believe in self determination

So here we go again - British nationals need to seek Spanish permission to enter a British overseas territory. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cgjz1x5e1xyo
I don't think I need my neighbour's permission to enter my own home.

Most Gibraltarians and Spanish cross border workers are very happy with this deal because they were completely shafted by Brexit.

Great deal for everyone, especially after the clusterf#$% titled "brexit" that was forced upon Gibraltar by the clowns in power in Westminster at the time. In fact 95.9% of voters in Gibraltar voted to remain, let that sink in...
Kudos to them for working out a deal with the Spanish authorities. Everyone's lives will be much easier as a result of this.

Fair enough if the Gibraltarians are happy with it. They have their own immigration system so they should decide.
It just feels slightly odd that non-Brits (i.e. foreign aliens) can now have a say on whether you can return to your own country or enter another British territory. First the ETA and now this de facto Schengen arrangement.

Gibraltar was part of the EU and always wanted to remain part of it. Especially Schengen. The brexit betrayal co-sponsored by the kremlin (and traitors like Farage) threw everything into disarray, so it's heartwarming to hear that Gibraltarians have found a legal solution to keep their freedoms relevant in 2026.
Exactly.
It's all about keeping undesirable non-EU people OUT of the EU. Great deal for everyone involved.
