Re: Approaching retirement

Whilst it's true what has been said about the Winter, I'd try the Summer also. Months and months of heat and no rain isn't always that great. Sure you have some experience of that from Australia...

Re: A British/Italian Brexit "bonus"

Actually we are in agreement on this one as well ;)

My thoughts were...and this is why I posted this here...that...

Re: A British/Italian Brexit "bonus"

I think you're wrong again. This route is designed for those who were from outside the EU prior to Brexit. You need to have had one of a number of visas, which of course this man doesn't have...

Re: A British/Italian Brexit "bonus"

I didn't say it wasn't his fault. I said "not necessarily". And, yes, it's very much the result of a choice by the UK to make the system operate in this way. Who else made that choice if not the UK?...

Re: A British/Italian Brexit "bonus"

Agreed. And I read comments on my (new) local Facebook groups from people saying "Ah well, it's a result of leaving the EU. It's totally fair, because British people in the EU are being treated the...

Re: A British/Italian Brexit "bonus"

You are right about the ETA/UK settlement scheme thing. The paper did get this wrong.

But I don't think that is necessarily the fault of the person in question. He didn't ignore the issue...he was...

Re: Holiday Home in Passignano sul Trasimeno - Lago Trasimeno

There are lots of English speakers in the general area around the lake, and also in Perugia and Cortona (two nearest cities).

Re: Translation fees

Are they charging both parties (if either your buyer, or the person you bought from also needed a translator)? Or is this just for the purchase?

Re: B&Bs

But if one chooses to live in Italy one must accept Italian customs. In Italy it's:
1. Likely your neighbours will chat noisily
2. Customary to go to bed later (1am is a bit later than some but...

Re: Scrapping a UK van in italy 2025

4 (perhaps) relevant comments:

1. A friend broke down in her camper in Italy many years ago...before "Vanlife" was invented! She would probably have just been described as a hippie! Anyway, she...

Re: Construction material places in Northern Italy Lago Maggiore area or Milan

A lot of good questions that you're asking. Hopefully you will get a few responses from more knowledgeable sources about the more technical aspects of some of your questions.

But for now I would...

Re: Approval of Scicily bridge

Re: Construction material places in Northern Italy Lago Maggiore area or Milan

Yeah, agree with the above.

Presumably you have a geometra involved and maybe already have various tradesmen too...it's usually done via them. But there's nothing to stop you simply going to the...

Re: "Undoing" a contract to purchase a property

That makes more sense. Think the agent means well but is a bit over cautious and tries to deal with problems that don't exist. We will get a visura ipotecaria. Thank you for your reply.

"Undoing" a contract to purchase a property

Hi All

Anyone ever heard of this concept (or something like it) in Italy?

We are selling our property in good faith. AFAWK there is no impediment to selling it. The people we're selling to...

Re: Italy moving advice

Worth remembering that:

1. it's based on the calendar year, so if you enrol in November you still pay €2000 (or more based on income), but only get two months cover ...then you have to pay the...

Re: Pompeii

I did say "I'm not a big fan". That's a fairly mild comment I think. And someone else said it's not their cup of tea. I don't think that's sad.

But tbf I don't like cities and/or crowded places in...
