Re: Driving licence expiring

I have had a response from IMT. Basically they've said that the details we entered online when we registered aren't the same as they have on their system (they wouldn't be as we gave them the old EU...

Re: Driving licence expiring

The error code was the doc 1, I have emailled the IMTT support line. In the meantime, there's a citizen's shop just down the road. I'll go and have a chat.

Re: Driving licence expiring

I've been able to.register on the website but the licence isn't found. I suspect it's because the licence was issued about 7 years ago, prior to the facility to apply online.

Re: Optimal way to convert pounds to euros in Portugal?

There are always threads about the best/cheapest way to transfer money. I'm not sure why the option that we use is seldom mentioned. We simply use the facility provided by our bank CGD. They...

Re: Importing personal items to Portugal

You're right of course, it's largely stuff that if I had to buy again new would run into the small £1000s but second hand value would be not be much at all. I had thought about getting a value from...

Re: Importing personal items to Portugal

I think 'thanks' is the appropriate response. A large PITA. Brexit - the gift that keeps on giving.

Importing personal items to Portugal

When we moved to Portugal 5 years ago we kept our house in the UK together with some personal effects which we locked in the attic whilst the property was let. We're now thinking of selling the UK...

Re: The weather up north!

I don't live near Tomar but winters can be chilly in the centre. Someone on here described Portugal as a cold country with hot sun - which is about right. Tomar (and Santarem district generally)...

Re: Moving from London to Madeira -- any removal service?

A word of caution, several years ago before the Brexit cluster**** I bought some garden chairs (ie. one biggish box) when I was in the UK and had them collected by a large courier company for...

Re: wind-chill in Portugal

A cold country with hot sun is spot on. Winters are surprisingly harsh. East wind tends to be the worst. I'm sure we all know the saying about bad winds and bad marriages coming from the East. ...

With the numbers as they are and the predicted growth especially around Christmas, I think it's only a matter of time before they start to vaccinate under 65s with a third, or if you had the J&J...

Re: COVID TESTING FOR ENTERING ENGLAND

Not actually a test for entering but rather a test to be taken after arrival. Interesting how the UK government's guidance consistently elides England and the UK.

Re: Brexit - Residency - new Biometric cards - slight update

A bit strange as I spoke to a SEF officer at Lisbon airport last week and he said that they have already started to be issued and he had actually seen them at the border control!
